About Cycle for Life
Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) hosts Cycle for Life each year in various cities throughout the United States. Each year, thousands of cyclists gather in dozens of cities across the nation to take part in an exciting effort to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis.
In 2017, CF Cycle for Life raised nearly $3.5 million to help bring them closer to a cure, while adding tomorrows, for those struggling with cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening genetic disease. While tremendous progress has been made toward finding a cure, the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short.
Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life provides an exciting opportunity for companies, friends, and family members to come together and ride in support of a worthy cause.
IT Concepts’ involvement
Since about 2015, IT Concepts has participated in the CF Cycle for Life event each year, as the cause is near and dear to our hearts. ITC’s Director of Business Development, Ben Peden, has been personally affected by the disease. Our goal each year is to help support him and his family raise funds for the foundation and spread awareness of its mission.
Peden comments,
“Having an organization, ITC, I work for give back to a cause that is so important to me is incredibly humbling. The CF Foundation’s mission is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care.
My first-born child, Jack, was born with a bowel blockage, leading to a 45-day stay at Children’s National (also a great cause worthy of donations). During his stay, we learned that our son was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a rare, inherited life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system to which the average life expectancy is only 37 years old. Ever since he was born, my family and I have been raising money and spreading awareness in hopes for there to be a cure for our son. Knowing that ITC assists through their philanthropic efforts is extra rewarding as an employee.”
We have been recognized by the CFF Metro D.C. Chapter for our long time support with their Corporate Breath Award in 2019.
