ITC Gives Back
This week, ITC’s Director of Service Delivery (VA) Danielle Applegate traveled down to FL to support the second Deloitte Women Employment Boot Camp held at the pristine Wounded Warrior Project headquarters.
The program’s acronym is pronounced “WE”BC – which sums up the tight network and camaraderie built over two days of intense ‘for women, by women’ transition programming.
For Danielle, the time spent coaching the women veterans and caregivers through confidence-building best practices for elevator pitches, resumes tips and tricks, and interview practice was a valuable opportunity to give back to our military and veteran community.
In a surprise turn of events, senior leaders onsite from the VA’s Veteran Experience Office and Center for Women Veterans made the groundbreaking announcement of a new VA mission statement- a huge step towards acknowledging the growing population of women veterans (https://www.va.gov/opa/pressrel/pressrelease.cfm?id=5867).
The new inclusive mission statement is: “To fulfill President Lincoln’s promise to care for those who have served in our nation’s military and for their families, caregivers, and survivors.” The entire room jumped to their feet to offer rousing applause and cheers for this long overdue change.
