IT Concepts prides itself in its philanthropic involvement. Our employees are engaged with the community and involved in so many great causes. This year, we wanted to honor those causes with a Thanksgiving Charity Giveback. We requested everyone to submit the names of what causes mean the most to them, and a short paragraph on why. Then we chose three winners to receive $1000, and donated $500 to all submissions.
Our top three charities (in no particular order) were:
-
Second Story
- Second Story provides safe havens and opportunities to grow and thrive to youth experiencing homelessness and youth and families in crisis. They are located a few miles from our Vienna HQ and support at risk youth in our community. Second Story transforms the lives of children, youth and their families by providing safe havens and opportunities for them to grow and thrive. They work closely with youth and families to help them achieve their goals and work toward self-sufficiency, breaking cycles of homelessness, abuse, and poverty. All of their programs are located in Northern Virginia, though depending on the circumstance youth outside of the community can receive support as well.
-
Best Friends Animal Society
- Best Friends Animal Society started as a sanctuary for homeless and special-needs animals. As they’ve grown, their national network partners and pet lifesaving centers have become hubs for innovation and inspiration. They bring tangible lifesaving tactics to shelters and rescue groups across the U.S, touching every community in the country. This group of ordinary but passionate people believed that every pet has a story– each one worth saving, each life individual and important. Today, nearly four decades after they broke ground for a sanctuary in a remote region of the Southwest, achieving no-kill across the entire country is within reach. They have inspired others throughout the country to take up the mantle of no kill and have helped to reduce the number of animals being killed in shelters by 91 percent.
-
Boulder Crest
- The Veteran-led Boulder Crest Foundation uses the proven science of Posttraumatic Growth to heal, train, and advocate for combat veterans, first responders, and their families who have experienced trauma. They develop, deliver, and scale transformative programs to ensure these remarkable men and women transform struggle into strength and lifelong growth, so they can live the great lives they deserve. More broadly, they are working to drive change across the mental health system, in pursuit of a system that is accessible, effective, and healthy.
