What an exciting time to work in computing and artificial intelligence with transformative technologies focused on artificial intelligence working their way into the mainstream – from Generative Transformation models to stable diffusion to deep learning – all are in the forefront of media and casual conversation. Loaded promises like “increased productivity”, “saving time”, “automation of repetitive tasks”, and my personal favorite “accurate” abound. Given Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI and integration into Teams, ChatGPT is leading the pack of AI tools – coming to a business, home, and retail experience near you.
AI at ITC
At ITC, we use artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for internal processes:
- Semantic search engine based on internal processes and HR data
- Resume parsing and categorizing using NLP models to inform proposals and training needs
- Recruiting using AI capabilities built into tools
For our customers, we use AI for:
- Predictive maintenance
- Fraud detection
- Prioritization of entitlement payments
- Assistance in identifying process improvement areas
- Enhanced RPA
At ITC, AI is used as an enabler (or force multiplier, as our DoD friends like to call it) to help us do our jobs better. In addition to enablement, we consider how it affects our data processes, protections, flow, and governance. How it introduces or reinforces biases, and how to avoid decision-making pitfalls.
